2011-present. A practice in abstract landscape, synthetic realities, and motion. These are the source material for my Warped paintings. They begin in the non-objective and slowly allow structures and landscapes to form as layers are added. The process helps bring an amalgam of abstraction into the realm of space/place, linking subconscious with conscious. The work can be contrasted to other artists who apply an opposite method, producing landscape-to-abstraction work, which seeks to break down referenced imagery of the natural world into the abstract or semi-abstract. This can be understood as reverse approach, having its conception in a kind of pure subconscious abstraction, then building into a final form that is approachable as a situated reality.
