2011-present. A practice in abstract landscape, synthetic realities, and motion. These are the source material for my Warped paintings. They begin in the non-objective and slowly allow structures and landscapes to form as layers are added. The process helps bring an amalgam of abstraction into the realm of space/place, linking subconscious with conscious. The work can be compared to other artists who apply an opposite method, producing landscape-to-abstraction work, which seeks to break down referenced imagery of the natural world into the abstract or semi-abstract. This is the opposite approach, starting in pure abstraction and building into an ”uncanny” tangible-reality situation in order to hunt for boundless circumstances, and engage in a conversation about the ineffable.
