Mistakes and do-overs, erasures and repaints, scratching away the paint, smudging it off with turpentine… things that commonly happen within the practice of painting which are usually covered up, are all scrutinizingly visible. The work then provides a shifted perspective, focusing on the anatomy of abstract painting from a once invisible viewing angle. a discussion about the scrambling of archetypes is brought forward. What can we be sure we know? Surety can be a result of strong familiarity with comforting frameworks, but such frameworks are loosely nailed together with very dry, brittle wood. They become easily burnable illusions, leaving nothing but char.
