Warped 2011- 2020. The bending and distorting of subjective abstraction. This series consists of a sequence of paintings based on distortion and derivation of abstract form. Thick paint, immense brush strokes and forceful mark making techniques are prevalent. The paint sometimes thickens up as space crams in, and thins down where space stretches out.
This work demonstrates a non-symmetrical iteration with a looser hand to the brush strokes themselves. Thick layers of pigment, hues of red flow into a seamless gradient, and built up strokes of blue radiate around the right side of the canvas. The work was painted more thickly than others in the series. This painting glows with many red hues that the photo cannot adequately pick up.
